Wave goodbye to ill-fitting, uncomfortable dentures.
Whilst wearing a denture might seem pretty convenient when it comes to replacing missing teeth it does have its downfalls.
Dentures, especially when you first start wearing them, cause discomfort and soreness. If they don’t fit exactly then this pain will continue as the denture moves about and rubs your natural gums.
It can be difficult to speak naturally with dentures. Over time your mouth will get used to where they are and how they sit but it can take a little while for your speech to become normal again.
With new dentures you often have to avoid hard or chewy foods whist your gums heal, and your mouth gets used to the dentures. Even after this issue has passed you might struggle to eat things like bread and steak.
You might find that it takes a while for your mouth to work out how to keep your dentures in place and this can lead to more saliva being created as well.
Now, whilst dentures work for some people and they live happily with them most of the time, dentures are not the only solution to tooth loss.
Dental implants are the long-term solution to tooth loss which look, feel and behave like our natural teeth. No moving, no sores, no speech issues, no eating problems and no extra saliva!
The implant basically replaces the tooth root and then a dental restoration (crown) is placed on this implant, this acts like your natural teeth. Not everyone is suitable for implant treatment but we can let you know if it is an option for you at a dental implant consultation. At the consultation we’ll also talk you through the process, let you know the timescales involved and also talk through prices with you. Once you’re fully informed you can make a much better decision regarding your smile. To book a consultation call our friendly team on 0116 271 0500.
